Man remanded over health worker murder

A man accused of murdering a 22-year-old health worker appeared in court today.
Ronald Dixon, 34, of Eighth Avenue, Heaton, stood in the glass dock of a Newcastle Magistrates Court for less than one minute.
When asked to confirm his name was Ronald Dixon, he loudly replied: "King".
The clerk then repeated Ronald Dixon, and the shaven-headed defendant said "King" again.
When she tried to confirm his date of birth was February 3, 1972, he again said "King".
Dixon, wearing blue jeans a grey sweatshirt, was led away in handcuffs by two security officers in handcuffs.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Newcastle Crown Court on Tuesday 30 May.
No pleas were entered today.
