Body found in search for missing 20-year-old man who vanished during a night out with his girlfriend 

  • A man's body has been found washed up on Newcastle Harbour

  • Suspected sightings of the man place him in the harbour swimming at 2.30am

A man’s body has been found washed up on the shore of a busy harbour during the search for Jackson Baker who has been missing since June 16. 

The body, which was found at 11.45 on Wednesday morning in Stockton, Newcastle is yet to be formally identified, police said. 

Mr Baker had been at Argyle House nightclub in Newcastle the night he went missing. He was there with his girlfriend Mia Lowe but left the club without her at about 1.30am.

When she couldn’t get on to him the next day she contacted the police. 

Mr Baker hasn’t been in contact with any friends or family since he disappeared however on the night he went missing there were suspected sightings. 

Tug boat workers saw a man swimming in the harbour at about 2.10am, the herald reports.

There was also a sighting at Port Waratah Coal Services entrance at Carrington about 1.30am.

Mr Baker is about 180cm tall, with brown short hair.

He was last seen wearing a green jacket, a grey and dark green striped t-shirt, cream trousers and grey ‘Nike’ shoes.

Jackson’s family and girlfriend have been notified of the discovery of the man’s body.
