Six people have died following a head-on collision in Hampshire involving two vehicles, police have said.
The accident, involving a Peugeot 106 car and a Ford Focus, happened close to the Chequers Inn on the A31 at Ropley, near Winchester, Hants, at about 11.30pm yesterday, a spokeswoman for Hampshire Police said.
The spokeswoman said that five young men, all aged in their late teens or early 20s, who were in the Peugeot car, were killed, and a middle-aged man in the Ford also died.
She said the next of kin were being informed, and the road had been closed, with diversions in place, while an investigation was being carried out.
