A landlord has changed the name of his pub to the Muppet Inn to confront locals who gave it the tag.
Bob Mulholland decided to rename the Market Inn, in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, after he discovered its name was being taken in vain.
Mr Mulholland said: "It was basically a bit of reverse psychology, a lot of people were calling it that anyway. It was a way of giving people who'd never drunk in here but were calling it that the two fingers.
"It started as a bit of a joke with my customers. It's got a bit of a chequered history, but it's a brilliant pub now.
"We had talked about it as a joke for months and then decided to do something about it."
Mr Mulholland, 48, who took over the pub on the Market Place about 18 months ago, has already noticed word of the name change has spread in the Fens.
"I was sitting in this pub in March and these two fellas who didn't know I was the landlord were talking about it," he said.
Murals of characters from the Muppet Show are set to adorn the walls as part of the changes.
