Israel fires on Gaza militants
Last updated at 15:41 08 June 2005
An Israeli aircraft fired several missiles at a group of Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip, witnesses said.
There were no immediate reports of casualties in the air strike near Khan Younis, which followed a militant rocket and mortar barrage yesterday that killed two Palestinian farmers and a Chinese worker at a Jewish settlement in the coastal territory.
Foreign Secretary Jack Straw is currently visiting the region for talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas amid anger over diplomatic meetings with terror group Hamas.
Mr Straw is on a two-day visit to the Middle East for talks with Palestinian and Israeli leaders.
He will travel to the Palestinian Authority for talks with Mr Abbas before going on to meet Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
