It's Fish and Chip Friday in a seaside town as hundreds of people queued up for a traditional lunch.
Queues at Colmans in the seaside town of South Shields, Tyneside, stretched all the way down the street with punters waiting for up to an hour to get their hand on the food, said to be the best in the area.
One customer said: 'It's well worth the wait. Nothing would stop me from breaking with the tradition of fish and chips on Good Friday, even if I had to wait all day.'
Colmans is famous in the region for its cod and chips and has been visited by a host of well-known customers such as David Miliband and Tony Blair.
The shop started as a shack on the beach in 1905 and has grown into a thriving business which remains in the same family to this day.
It is has won many accolades, including Best UK Takeaway in the BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards, UKTV Gary Rhodes Local Food Heroes National Winner and the National Fish and Chip Awards Good Catch Award.
