Sustainable development pledged

The Government underlines its commitment to "achieving sustainable development and supporting rural services".
It says sustainable development means securing a better quality of life for everyone, now and for future generations, meaning that environmental, economic and social goals are all pursued at the same time within a long-term global context.
Both the UK Framework and the Government Strategy for Sustainable Development were published in March.
The four priority themes for sustainable development are:
The strategy - Securing the Future - sets out how the goals will be met, particularly in respect of these themes. Delivering the commitments in the strategy is a key task across Government.
