One for the good guys! Cute green tree frog pictured munching on a SNAKE

A green tree frog has been photographed munching down on a snake in a surprise victory for the underdog.

The image was posted to social media site Reddit on Monday by Shaun Rynne from Deebing Heights near Ipswich, south-west of Brisbane.

‘Saw this guy in my backyard last night. Finally, one for the little guys,’ the Reddit user who posted the image wrote alongside it.

Mr Rynne said it was a common tree snake, known for its yellow belly, that the green tree frog had been munching down on.

Many of those who commented on the thread were amazed by the frog.

‘What a little champion,’ one person replied. ‘Dominance.'

It’s not the first time a frog has been caught eating a snake.

In June last year, a short video by Darwin man Mark Drescher showed a green tree frog eating a carpet python headfirst.

That snake was an estimated 50 centimetres long.

Crocosaurus Cove snake expert and reptile curator Dr Gavin Bedford told ABC at the time it was unusual for such a small animal to try and eat a larger animal like a snake.

Similarly, a green frog had devoured a brown tree snake in 2010 in North Mackay in Queensland, 1,000 km north of Brisbane, Sunshine Coast Daily reported.
