Howard meets villagers effected by travellers
Last updated at 11:57 21 March 2005
Conservative Party leader Michael Howard today looked at a travellers' site before talking to local residents about the impact the development was having on their lives.
Mr Howard looked at the Crayshill site on the outskirts of Billericay, Essex, from a nearby garden and adjacent roads.
He then met a group of local residents in a village hall at nearby Noak Bridge to hear their concerns about the effect of the site, which contains about 1,000 travellers.
He told villagers: "We want fairness in the system, a system that works fairly for everyone and does not put one group of people above the law."
