Flash floods hit homes

Flash floods caused havoc in an area of the West Midlands last night with more than 100 incidents reported in the space of four hours.
A mixture of heavy torrential rain and thunder and lightning affected many homes and properties around the Worcester area.
Up to 80 officers from Hereford & Worcester Fire Brigade were out in force between just before 8pm and midnight, mainly to deal with flood-affected homes.
The worst hit area was the low-lying Warnden village on the outskirts of the city between junctions 6 and 7 of the M5, while roads in Worcester city centre were completely flooded.
Lightning struck two homes for the elderly in Evesham and north Worcester, a semi-detached house in Bromsgrove and Leominster police
station. No-one was injured in the incidents.
A fire brigade spokesman said that pumping out operations on homes were under way this morning but that all roads in the area were passable.
