The result is some peculiar-looking animals - and a horde of fans who enjoy looking at the odd creatures.

A Facebook group has been dedicated to the craze of removing the necks from animals, along with a particular post on Reddit where users can upload their creations.
There are more than 18,800 'neck haters' who subscribe to the Reddit posts, with more than 100 images sent in.
Members of the group abide by a strict set of rules, including the insistence that the animal must be Photoshopped, and they must not use vowels when commenting on the pictures.

The Facebook group has had over 109,000 likes, and has nearly 400 people discussing the odd-looking pictures - which range from a giraffe with no neck to a cheetah looking decidedly uncomfortable without a portion of his neck.
