Avalanche kills man, injures others while skiing in Colorado
An avalanche near the Silverton Mountain Ski Area in Colorado killed a man who was part of a skiing party over the weekend.
The Denver Post is reporting that Peter Carver, a 23 year-old,from Durango was killed in the back country around Gladstone.
Two other members of the skiing party were injured.
The avalanche occurred over the weekend near Gladstone, Colorado and killed one skier and injured two others
John Duncan Rothwell suffered a broken femur.
Nate Klema did not suffer any serious injuries.
Weather forecasters with the Colorado Avalanche Information Center are set to visit the area where the group was skiing to determine what caused the avalanche.
The avalanche occurred on land owned by the Bureau of Land Management.
Colorado is being plagued by a series of avalanches due to delicate snow conditions. On Saturday there were five reports of avalanches from Wyoming to Colorado.
