Five remanded over Heathrow raid
Five men have been remanded in custody today in connection with a £1.75 million armed robbery at Heathrow airport.
The men appeared at Staines Magistrates Court following the hold-up at Menzies World Cargo centre, in a controlled area of the airport, shortly after 11pm on Friday.
Cargo handler Roy Davis, 37, of Harlesden, north west London, warehouse employee Darren Brockwell, 37, from Woking, Surrey, mechanic Richard Betts, 39, of Iver, Buckinghamshire, caterer David Redmond, 43, of Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, and Adam Joyce, 38, a haulage truck driver from Reading, Berkshire, are all charged with conspiracy to rob.
Joyce is also charged with possession of a CS gas canister, a prohibited weapon under the Firearms Act.
Betts faces an additional charge of possessing counterfeit euro notes.
Each spoke only to confirm his name and address during the 45-minute hearing.
Brockwell was remanded in custody until February 11. Betts, Davis, Redmond and Joyce were all remanded in custody to appear before Guildford Crown Court on February 13.
