Soham house of murder to be demolished
The house where school caretaker Ian Huntley murdered Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman is expected to be demolished in April, education authority officials said.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire County Council said arrangements were being made to have the house outside Soham Village College demolished during the Easter holidays.
The nearby storage hangar where Huntley tried to hide the girls' clothes after killing them would be demolished at the same time, said the spokesman.
Holly and Jessica, both 10, were murdered when they went for a walk near their homes in Soham in August 2002.
Huntley, who was the caretaker of Soham Village College, killed the youngsters after enticing them into his house, then hid their bodies in an isolated ditch.
He shared the house with girlfriend Maxine Carr, an assistant in Holly and Jessica's class at St Andrew's Primary School, Soham.
Huntley was jailed for life after being convicted of the girls' murders following a trial at the Old Bailey in December.
Carr was also jailed after being convicted of perverting the course of justice.
Huntley's former home is currently fenced off from public gaze and in possession of Cambridgeshire Police.
Police are due to hand the property back to the county council in the next few days.
