Two bailed over hit and run death
Two men held in connection with the death of David Evans have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Father-of-two Mr Evans was knocked down on a zebra crossing near Shireland Language College in Smethwick on Tuesday. The 55-year-old was an English and religious studies teacher at the school where his wife Jane is deputy head.
West Midlands Police said that a 26-year-old Smethwick man and a man aged 39 from the Cradley Heath area of Birmingham had been arrested in connection with Mr Evans's death.
Mr Evans, who lived in Edgbaston, Birmingham, was crossing Waterloo Road, while students milled near the school entrance, when he was run over by a black five-door car which then sped off towards Bearwood.
