Action on high price of soft drinks
New laws to tackle the high price of soft drinks in pubs and restaurants have been outlined by the Government.
The measures will force landlords and restaurant owners to display their prices clearly in future.
Research by the Department of Trade and Industry found outlets which fail to show their prices often charge more than those which do.
Under the new laws, which come into force next March, all pubs and bars will have to display soft drink prices so the customer can see before they are served.
Restaurants will have to include prices on their menu at or near the entrance.
Consumer minister Gerry Sutcliffe said: "We have received complaints about the lack of price transparency, so we have taken action."
