Longest chart-topper for five years
Hip-hop band Black Eyed Peas have hung on to top spot in the charts for the fifth week running, making it the longest run for five years.
The group's Where Is The Love? - their response to the September 11 terrorist attacks - fought off competition from former S Club star Rachel Stevens with Sweet Dreams My LA Ex.
It is the biggest stretch at number one since Cher's Believe enjoyed seven weeks at the top in 1998.
Stevens, who has launched a solo career with a new raunchy image, was left at number two, while Suffolk band The Darkness slid into third place with I Believe In A Thing Called Love.
Meanwhile, S Club 8 - formerly S Club Juniors - scored this week's highest new entry at four with Sundown.
Other new entries include Travis' Re-Offender at seven, teenager Amy Studt's Under The Thumb at 10, and DMX at 16 with Where The Hood At.
Dido's single White Flag edged down one to number five but the 31-year-old singer stormed straight into the top of this week's album chart.
Life for Rent, her second album, has become the fastest selling British album in six years, with more than 255,000 snapped up in its first week.
Robbie Williams was left in second place with his Live At Knebworth album, while last week's chart-topper Absolution by Muse fell to number five.
