WMDs - read Blair's lips
PM Tony Blair has repeatedly told the British public that he is confident Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction would be found:
September 24, 2002, House of Commons:
"(Saddam's) WMD programme is active, detailed and growing... it is not shut down. It is up and running"
January 15, 2003, House of Commons:
"It is right (going to war) because weapons of mass destruction, chemical, biological and nuclear weapons are a real threat to the security of the world and this country"
May 28, Kuwait:
"I have absolutely no doubt about the existence of weapons of mass destruction"
June 1, en route to the G8 summit in Evian, France:
"I say to people who have already made up their minds - wait for the evidence"
July 8, House of Commons:
"I'm very confident that they will find the evidence that such programmes existed and that Saddam was developing them but tried to conceal them"
