Detectives were today continuing to question 11 suspected Algerian terrorists arrested in London and Manchester.
Six of the men were detained in London and four in Manchester in dawn raids yesterday. An 11th man was arrested in London later in the day.
The men were all believed to be aged in their 20s and 30s.
They were held under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 on suspicion of being involved in the "commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism".
The London arrests were carried out in the north, east and south-east of the capital by Scotland
Yard's Anti-Terrorist Branch.
All seven men arrested in the capital were taken to a police station in central London and remain in custody.
In Manchester, a 32-year-old man was held under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
The operation was carried out by Greater Manchester Police at the request of the Anti-Terrorist Branch.
He was being transferred to London for questioning.
Three others were also held under the Terrorism Act in the Manchester raid.
