Couples 'go single on holiday'
People may travel in pairs, but they can be single-minded when it comes to holiday pursuits, according to a survey out today.
One in 10 couples said they preferred to spend more time apart from their partners on holiday.
And one in five confessed they always liked to pursue different activities to each other while away, said the survey from Thomson Holidays.
One in six said they would rather jet off with friends than with their partners, while women were more keen on relaxing around the pool compared with a male eagerness to visit local clubs.
Only one in five of the female partners of men who enjoyed sports shared that interest, while women were far more likely to explore local areas than men.
Based on interviews with more than 2,000 adults, the survey also showed that one in five holidaymakers never admitted wanting to pursue different activities to their partners.
They said they were only honest about this if tension developed into a row.
