MMR doctor charged with forgery
A doctor has been charged with forgery in connection with alleged false blood test results relating to the success of babies' single MMR vaccines.
Dr David Pugh, 54, ran the Elstree Aeromedical Centre in Hertfordshire, where youngsters were offered separate vaccines for measles, mumps and rubella.
Hundreds of children who attended the private clinic were treated with the single jabs which were offered as an alternative to the controversial three-in-one MMR injection.
They were offered blood tests after concerns that the batches of vaccine were not working properly.
A spokeswoman from Herts Police said: "The documents relate to laboratory results of blood tests regarding the success of children's single vaccine MMR immunisations which had been administered at the private clinic Elstree Aeromedical Centre, near Borehamwood in Hertfordshire.
"Police launched an investigation after a number of parents contacted police believing they had been sent falsified laboratory result reports."
Dr Pugh, of Bradmore Green, Brookmans Park, Hatfield, faces seven counts of forgery. He has been bailed to attend Central Herts Magistrates Court on Friday.
