Possible sighting of missing doctor
Police searching for a top children's doctor are investigating a claim he was spotted on a London-bound train.
Blood specialist Dr Richard Stevens, of Sale, Greater Manchester, was last seen at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in Pendlebury on Monday morning.
The 54-year-old consultant left his Audi car in the hospital car park. His jacket and briefcase were discovered in the office.
Following the release of CCTV footage of the doctor, police said they were notified of a possible sighting on Tuesday's 12.27pm train from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston.
Superintendent Frank Doyle, from Salford Police, said: "Officers are now investigating this unconfirmed sighting but I would like to stress inquiries are still taking place in and around the Manchester area."
He added that it was the latest in a number of sightings reported to police, so they were still keeping an open mind.
Supt Doyle said: "We just want to know he is safe and well. We urge him to contact us so we at least know he is okay."
Police are now examining CCTV footage from the stations along the busy train route.
