Saddam's sons believed killed
US forces believe they have killed Saddam Hussein's sons Uday and Qusay in a gun battle at the luxury home of a cousin in the northern city of Mosul.
Two others - a teenager, who may be Qusay's 14-year-old son, and a bodyguard - were also killed.
A US official said investigators were "awaiting positive DNA testing" to confirm the identities.
US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld rushed to the White House to brief President Bush.
A presidential spokesman would not reveal what was said.
The bodies were whisked away from the Mosul house by US forces for medical tests.
Both men has £10 million prices on their heads - dead or alive.
Uday was the Ace of Hearts and Qusay the Ace of Clubs in the US deck of cards of most wanted Iraqis.
Their deaths would be a major boost for President George Bush who has been alarmed at the growing number of US soldiers being ambushed and killed in Iraq.
The 153rd was killed today - six more than died in the 1991 Gulf War.
