BA passenger misery continues
Hundreds of British Airways passengers are suffering another day of travel misery because of the continuing delays caused by a bitter dispute over working practices.
Around 700 people were waiting to leave Heathrow Airport after being stranded because of disruption caused by unofficial strikes over the weekend.
Many of the passengers spent the night in hotels - paid for by BA - but faced another long day of queuing before being able to leave London.
Talks aimed at resolving the row were resuming this morning but union officials were pessimistic about reaching a deal.
One official said that the chances of reaching an agreement were "poor".
He said: "We are attending today's meeting more in hope than expectation."
The official said yesterday's day-long talks between the two sides were "extremely disappointing" and he said he could not understand why BA was pressing ahead with introducing a new electronic clocking on and off system that has angered check-in staff.
"The position is highly inflammatory," the official added.
BA announced last night it had decided to delay introducing the new system by 24 hours, until lunchtime on Wednesday, so that today's talks could go ahead.
