28 hurt in ferry accident
Twenty eight people were injured on Friday night when a ferry hit a wall in Dover harbour, P&O Ferries said.
The 28,559 tonne Pride of Provence was arriving from Calais when it was in contact with the breakwater as it entered the harbour at Dover, company spokesman Chris Laming said.
The people hurt - 18 passengers and 10 crew - had injuries such as whiplash, bruising and shock, he said.
The incident happened at about 5.30pm, Mr Laming said.
The ship, which had left Calais at 4pm British time, was carrying 489 passengers and 159 crew.
The majority of the 28 people injured were receiving first aid from paramedics on board the ship, Mr Laming added.
A spokeswoman for William Harvey Hospital later said the majority of casualties were being treated for grazes and bruises.
She said: "Two were more serious but the hospital isn't classing it as a serious incident.
"One was being treated for bruising to the ribs and another for neck injuries."
The casualties were brought in by ambulance - none of them were children or elderly, she added.
Kent ambulance said the ferry had "sustained minor damage".
A spokeswoman said five ambulances and an air ambulance attended the scene.
"All patients sustained minor injuries," she said.
