British soldiers hurt in blast
Three British soldiers have been injured while fighting Iraqi forces on the Al Faw oil peninsula.
The troops suffered burns during an explosion in a building they were trying to clear in the peninsula's town of the same name.
Royal Marines and Royal Engineers have come across up to 100 Iraqi soldiers spread sporadically on the strategic part of southern Iraq.
The area was captured in daring raids on Thursday night.
Iraqis are said to be surrendering when they come into contact with coalition forces.
However, three men were injured in a blast in one house but sources would not say how the explosion occurred.
It is believed the small pockets of resistance are soldiers who went into hiding as the war started because they expected a huge aerial bombardment.
British troops working to clear the whole peninsula are now starting to stumble across them, sources said.
Similar scenes have been witnessed in the port town of Umm Qasr.
One British officer said of the enemies on the Al Faw: "Many of them have mines and booby traps have been found in buildings in some parts of the town."
