Saddam appears on Iraqi TV
Saddam Hussein apparently appeared on state television to tell the Iraqi people You "will be victorious... with the help of God".
Saddam Hussein said President Bush "has committed a new crime" by attacking Iraq in an address to nation at 0530 GMT.
There is no way of knowing whether the transmission was live or recorded earlier.
In the broadcast Saddam calls on people of Iraq to "go draw your sword".
He said President Bush was guilty of "disgraceful crimes" after his forces attacked Iraq. He called on the Iraqi people to "take out the sword without fear. Take out the sword - let them be witness to that".
Saddam continued: "We are all for Jihad." He called on the Iraqi people to defend their principles and their "dear country".
