Queen postpones visit to Belgium
The Queen's planned visit to Belgium next week has been postponed, Buckingham Palace has announced.
The decision, taken on the advice of ministers, comes as Britain moves closer to possible conflict with Iraq.
"The visit will be reinstated in due course," said the Palace.
During the visit, which was scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday, the Queen was due to visit Nato headquarters in Brussels.
The last time a royal visit was postponed was after the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001. The Queen had been due to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Australia.
