Sheikh warns of UK suicide bombers
An Islamic leader today warned Britain was facing a dangerous new security threat as he claimed radical Muslims were prepared to act as suicide bombers in the UK.
Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed, spiritual leader of the controversial Islamic group al-Muhajiroun, said people should stay away from locations such as financial institutions and Government buildings in the light of the threat.
"I would be careful, there are people who are in the UK, these are people who are supporters of al Qaida and these people are Islamically speaking, they are people who feel they have a right to retaliate back.
"So I would warn people to take precautions. Do not go into Government buildings do not be in any financial institutions, keep away from these locations," he said.
His remarks came after it emerged today that Scotland Yard was stepping up security at Heathrow Airport and at other locations.
