Police reconstruction to trace missing Rachel
Police were staging a reconstruction of missing 21-year-old Rachel Moran's last movements today as their search for her entered its third week.
Rachel was last seen in the early hours of New Year's Day after setting out from her parents' home in Hull to walk to her flat about a mile away.
Humberside Police said a volunteer would dress in clothes similar to those worn by Rachel when she disappeared, in the hope that it would jog the memories of anyone in the area at the time.
Rachel's family have made a series of emotional public appeals for help to find her over the past two weeks, but still have no idea where she is.
Police set up a dedicated team of officers to search for Rachel and underwater teams have been probing a drainage channel close to home.
The divers have found her passport, mobile phone, handbag and what is thought to be her training shoe.
Today's reconstruction will take place in Hall Road, where there was an unconfirmed sighting of her close to a bus stop at 2.15am on January 1.
Det Supt Paul Davison, heading a 15-strong team of officers, said: "The hope is that someone will see the reconstruction and that it will trigger something in somebody's memory."
Rachel, due to celebrate her 22nd birthday tomorrow, went missing after a night out in the city, where she lives.
Her family said earlier this week they were "holding on to the hope" that she will soon be found safe and well.
Rachel's sister Vanda, reading a statement at Hull police station in midweek, said: "As before, we are trying to cope with our anguish as best we can - together as a family.
"We are still holding on to the hope that Rachel will soon be found safe and well.
"It has now been two weeks since Rachel's inexplicable disappearance. Her absence is most keenly felt with her 22nd birthday approaching this Friday."
Rachel spent New Year's Eve with her brother in a Hull pub and was due to stay at her parents' house in Hull Road but had decided to walk home because her two kittens needed feeding.
Police have released a CCTV image of Rachel close to her parents' home, which was the last confirmed sighting of her.
Speaking in midweek, Mr Davison said he was hopeful she was still alive.
He said: "We have had cases where people have been missing much longer.
"But the level of resources and the scale of this investigation reflects our concern for Rachel."
