Rapper on the run over Sydney shooting releases brazen music video from Bali taunting police

An Australian rapper on the run after an alleged gangland hit shared a brazen music video flashing guns and mocking police from his hideout overseas.

Harley Johan, known as YC EWZY, shared his video '4am' on Friday with the first few seconds acknowledging accusations he murdered Comanchero associate Niddal Acherkouk in November 2024.

NSW Police issued a warrant for Johan, 31, in September last year. A clip of Nine News talking about the story was used to open the music video, filmed in Bali.

In the news segment, presenter Peter Overton urged Johan to return to Australia and 'face the music'.

In the video, Johan rapped 'I did two drills last week back to back I'm f***ing balling', drills referring to hits, and 'Drop a body... triple zero they gon' call'.

'Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who's the greatest? Watch them fall,' he said.

'Damn. Now your parents crying about you dying.

'Now they have to buy a casket and the suit you lie in.

'Guess they never got that silver lining.'

The video also saw Johan repeatedly show off guns, act out a car jacking and swapping number plates.

Acherkouk, who was linked to the Comanchero gang, was fatally shot at a service station on Cleveland Street in Surry Hills on November 22, 2024.

He had recently returned to Australia under the impression underworld enemies were no longer after him.

On the evening of November 22, Acherkouk had parked his car at a BP service station across the road from where he was meeting friends for dinner.

When he returned to his car, two gunmen opened fire and fled the scene in a stolen Porsche SUV - which was later found burnt out in Kensington.

Acherkouk had attempted to run from the gunfire but collapsed and died in the middle of Cleveland Street. CCTV footage of the fatal attack leaked within 24 hours.

Detective Acting Superintendent Matthew Russell last September said Johan had fled Australia roughly six weeks after the shooting.

'We know that he left Sydney in January of this year for Kuala Lumpur and we're working hard to establish his whereabouts,' he said.

It's understood Johan had previously spent time in Cancun, Mexico.
