Goldman Sachs top female executive who used to work for Obama included in latest Epstein files

A top Goldman Sachs lawyer who appeared in previous Epstein files releases has emerged once again as new emails revealed she referred to the pedophile financier as being like an 'older brother'.

Kathryn Ruemmler, a White House counsel to former President Barack Obama, has previously shown up in the drops as having met with the billionaire pedophile dozens of times.

The latest release shows Ruemmler hailing 'wonderful Jeffrey' in emails dated December 25 and 26, 2015, six years after Epstein served 13 months in prison prostituting an underage girl.

Ruemmler, then the head of elite law firm Latham and Watkins, is speaking to a redacted person about putting together a first-class trip to Europe on Epstein's credit card.

The redacted person asks Ruemmler if the travel on Epstein's dime needed to be handled on Christmas Day.

'Merry Christmas! No, no, no – I am so sorry for the intrusion. Please enjoy the day. Jeffrey is just being wonderful Jeffrey,' Ruemmler writes back.

On the 26th, Ruemmler emails the redacted individual her frequent-flyer account number and preferred travel route to Geneva, not knowing when she could fly back. The redacted person tells her Epstein is 'so very kind,' to which Ruemmler eagerly agrees.

Goldman Sachs denied that Ruemmler was in hot water over appearing in the files.

A spokesman said: 'Of course not. As David has said, Kathy is an excellent general counsel and we benefit from her advice every day. Kathy has always had the support of the entire leadership team and the board and is widely respected and admired at the firm.'

'I know, and I never feel as if I can return the kindness adequately. I hope you are having a wonderful day,' she wrote.

When the redacted person said that Epstein told them Ruemmler is 'a very good friend,' she went further.

'Well, I adore him. It's like having another older brother!'

In another email dated October 2014, she asks for Epstein's thoughts on a draft statement she was writing to be considered for US Attorney General in 2014.

Ruemmler has said in the past that she regrets having known Epstein and reiterated that she has never legally represented him.

Latham and Watkins, for whom Ruemmler headed their white-collar crime practice, have previously stated that Epstein was never a client.

Ruemmler and Epstein have seemingly known each other since around the time she left the Obama administration in 2014.

Epstein pleaded guilty to procuring a child for prostitution in 2008. He was released from jail a year later.

Emails released by the House Oversight Committee in November showed the nature of the pedophile's relationship with Ruemmler.

In a correspondence dated September 19, 2014, he wrote: 'You need to talk to boss.'

Ruemmler, who had left the Obama White House about three months earlier, according to her LinkedIn page, replied: 'Agreed, but I need to be prepared to say yes before I talk to him.'

'Understood,' Epstein said. 'It comes down to high risk / reward / low risk / reward. professional, emotional. and fiinancial [sic].'

She responded that 'most girls do not have to worry about this crap.'

Epstein shot back: 'Girls? Careful i will renew an old habit.'

He then listed a group of people he was apparently set to meet with 'this week,' including Peter Thiel, Larry Summers, Bill Burns, former British prime minister Gordon Brown, Leon Black and 'Woody.'

'Also if you think there are interesting people in town, everyone here for climate summit, clinton ,security council,' Epstein added.

Messages from February 2017 also showed Ruemmler disparaging US President Donald Trump, calling him 'so gross.'

'Worse in real life and upclose,' he said.

Ruemmler's name is also featured hundreds of times in a log of emails between Epstein and his lawyers, which runs to more than 500 pages.

That batch of emails remains under seal after Epstein's estate cited attorney–client privilege. Ruemmler claimed she wasn't involved in the decision.

Earlier this year, she faced close scrutiny at the megabank after it was revealed that the convicted sex offender knew her sushi order of avocado rolls, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Goldman Sachs said she had been 'forthcoming' about her 'prior contact' with the dead pedophile.

Ruemmler is its chief legal officer, making her the bank's top female executive. She is also chairman of the firm's conduct committee.

'The executives at Goldman who needed to know about Kathy's prior contact with Epstein knew what they needed to know,' Tony Fratto, a spokesman for the bank, told the outlet.

He said: 'Before she accepted the offer to join Goldman Sachs, she proactively disclosed her association with Jeffrey Epstein and other high–profile clients and contacts who might attract media attention, so that the firm would be aware of them.'

Fratto added that Goldman Sachs was 'satisfied' after looking into Ruemmler's background.

'Nobody involved in Kathy's hiring had concerns about her prior legal work,' he said.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche announced the release of more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images related to Epstein on Friday.

The files, posted on the DOJ's website, include some of the several million pages of records that officials withheld from an initial release of documents in December.

Congressional Democrats, who have been key to pushing for the release of case files on Epstein, say that Friday's release is just half of the files that have been collected.

Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act on November 19, following a civil war within the Republican Party over the records which the President branded a Democrat 'hoax.'

The law requires the government to open its files on the convicted sex offender as well as his confidant and onetime girlfriend, Maxwell.

Epstein was found hanged in a New York jail cell in August 2019, a month after he was indicted on federal sex trafficking charges.
