Horror as armed man is shot dead by cops in a suburban street in Caboolture

Police have shot dead an armed attacker after he stabbed another man and threatened a woman north of Brisbane.

Police responded to reports that a man had been stabbed at the intersection of Beerburrum Road and Commercial Drive in Caboolture in Queensland's Moreton Bay region shortly after 3.40am on Tuesday.

The male offender fled the scene on foot.

Fifteen minutes later, police found the armed man threatening a woman on Margaret Street, prompting an officer to fire their weapon.

The armed man suffered a gunshot wound and died at the scene. 

The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics for an arm laceration. It’s understood that she was not known to the man.

The other man aged in his 40s who was earlier stabbed in the neck was rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition with life-threatening wounds.

The Ethical Standards Command has launched an investigation with oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission and State Coroner.

Investigations are ongoing.
