Trump loyalists fume at 'scumbag' Republican for paving Mamdani's path to victory
Donald Trump’s most loyal New York City supporters are thrashing the Republican mayoral nominee after 34-year-old democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani took control of the Big Apple.
Republican Curtis Sliwa received approximately 7 percent of the vote while former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo came in second with 41 percent support.
Prior to the election, the president issued a statement on Truth Social urging his supporters and Republican voters to back Cuomo, who was running as an independent.
‘A vote for Curtis Sliwa ... is a vote for Mamdani,’ Trump wrote. Prior to election night, Republicans urged Sliwa to back out of the race so that opposition to Mamdani could be consolidated around Cuomo.
Sliwa, however, bucked calls to drop out despite trailing way behind in the polls. Trump’s supporters are now blaming the 71-year-old for Mamdani’s victory on Tuesday evening.
‘Hey Curtis, you’re a f**king scumbag like I said all along! You fucking got 8% of the vote. You split the fucking vote,’ said David Rem, a vocal New York Trump advocate.
‘You were a scumbag! I hope every New Yorker spits in your f**king face every single day. You f**king sold out like Judas sold out Jesus! Go fuck yourself!’
Other flamboyant New York Republicans were to quick shift the blame towards Sliwa, including the city’s pardoned former Rep. George Santos.

‘F**k you Curtis Sliwa,’ Santos wrote on X. ‘I HATE YOU, your dumb wife, that stupid Beret of yours and all your f**king cats!’
The onslaught of online attacks against Sliwa continued from Republicans all over social media.
Former Trump State Department envoy Ellie Cohanim wrote, ‘I will never forgive @CurtisSliwa. From the beginning he campaigned against Cuomo instead of against Mamdani. He knew he was a spoiler & he refused to bow out as @ericadamsfornyc did.’
‘I never want to see his stupid red beret or his face again.’
Current New York Mayor Eric Adams dropped out of the race back in September due to declining poll numbers and endorsed Cuomo.
Under Trump’s direction, the Department of Justice in February dismissed a corruption case started under the Biden administration against Adams.
Some users, however, pointed out that even if Sliwa dropped out to push more votes for Cuomo, Mamdani received a majority of the vote.
‘Mamdani took more than 60$ of the vote,’ said Ian Miles Cheong. ‘It wouldn’t have mattered. Cuomo just never bothered to campaign.’

Sliwa previously ran for New York mayor against Eric Adams but lost with less than 30% of the vote
Mamdani won the New York mayoral election with 50.4 percent of the electorate, including over a million votes casted in his favor.
Cuomo, on the other hand, received approximately 850,000 votes with 41% support.
