A Sydney mother has shared a chilling letter she received that appeared to contain a threat to poison her dogs using 'Erin Patterson mushroom recipes'.
The mother-of-two shared a picture of the anonymous note to social media on Monday after it was left outside her home in Cremorne, on Sydney's lower north shore.
'NEIGHBOURS with the f***ing barking bulldog,' the note said.
'Your woeful inattention to your dogs and their continual barking is driving your neighbours to distraction. Do something about it,' it read.
It went on to say the sender had been throwing 'treats' into the family's backyard to quiet the dogs and was now 'looking at Erin Patterson Mushroom Recipes to make treats (I hope they like them).'
The letter concluded: 'Council have said, to do what it takes to get your dogs to be quiet.'
The mother, who has lived in the suburb for many years, said she immediately contacted authorities after receiving the note.
'I will firstly state that the police were notified immediately,' she wrote in a post to a community Facebook page.
The letter the mother claimed she received at her Cremorne property. The anonymous sender said they were researching 'Erin Patterson Mushroom Recipes' to feed her dogs
The homeowner said she was 'shocked' by the letter and warned dog owners in the affluent Sydney suburb to stay vigilant, warning there is a 'nasty person living amongst us'
'Not only because it clearly states the person's intention to kill my dogs but also the inherent risk to my children.'
She said her two elderly dogs bark occasionally but spend most of the day asleep.
'My dogs do bark, they are dogs,' she wrote.
'They are very old and hard of hearing and sleep the majority of the day. I know this as I am on maternity leave and I am home the majority of the day.'
'And trust me, the dogs barking annoys me as well. I just want my dogs to live their last days in peace and not die by poisoning.'
Ms Ball urged other residents in the area to stay alert, saying she believes there has already been an attempt to poison her dog.
'My female dog was vomiting for three days we thought she was going to die, this was only six weeks after I gave birth,' she said.
'We didn't think she was poisoned at the time, but after we received this letter we believe this to be the case.'
Cremorne residents rallied behind the young mother. 'Sickening to think there are people like this living in our neighbourhood,' one local woman wrote
She called on neighbours to report any suspicious behaviour.
'If you have seen anything, heard anything, know anything please reach out,' she said.
'Dogs bark, babies cry and pianos play. Let's keep our community safe.'
Concerned residents expressed shock over the letter and fears that someone capable of such threats may be living among them.
'Sickening to think there are people like this living in our neighbourhood,' one woman wrote.
'That's absolutely disgusting,' another said. 'There are real monsters walking around pretending to be human.'
'I have a dog too and that makes me feel sick to my stomach,' one local woman wrote.
Erin Patterson, referenced in the note, murdered three of her relatives and seriously injured a fourth by serving beef Wellingtons containing toxic death cap mushrooms at a lunch in Leongatha, Victoria in July 2023.
She was found guilty on three murder charges following a highly-publicised trial in July and later sentenced to life imprisonment with a non-parole period of 33 years.
Daily Mail has contacted the homeowner and her husband for comment.
