An Australian man has been found with 'slashes' to his face after he fell six storeys from a hotel balcony in Thailand and miraculously survived.
Police claim the 55-year-old man cut his face with a knife before jumping off the balcony in the nightlife hotspot of Pattaya.
Local police and medics called from Pattaya City Hospital found the man lying on the road, dressed in a t-shirt and shorts, on Wednesday.
The bonnet of a parked car was caved in from where the man had fallen on it.
He was rushed to hospital as investigators searched his room, where a bloodstained knife was found.
Thai police believe the man cut himself before jumping from the balcony in what is being investigated as a self-harm incident.
According to Amarin TV, a witness told police the man had been staying alone in the room and appeared distressed before he jumped.
Police have launched an investigation and do not suspect there was any foul play.

He remains in hospital under medical supervision, where doctors said his condition was serious but stable.
Pattaya is a city known for its nightlife and popularity with tourists and retirees, and has been dubbed 'Sin City' by UK media.
A similar incident of self-harm occurred in the same region last month when 68-year-old Scottish man James Murphy attempted suicide.
Murphy was found in a pool of blood outside the Avani Pattaya Hotel, suffering wounds to his neck and wrists.
He was treated and eventually released from hospital.
