An outspoken senator from Louisiana had a demeaning choice of words to describe one of his congressional colleagues during a TV appearance Tuesday evening.

During a segment with Fox News' Sean Hannity, Louisiana Republican John Kennedy called a fellow member of Congress, New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 'shallow as a puddle.'

'I don't hate anyone but Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez is a creation of the media. She checks all the boxes. She's young, she's liberal, she's attractive, she's ethnic. Her problem is that she's shallow as a puddle,' Kennedy told Hannity.

Ocasio-Cortez' office did not respond to the Daily Mail's request for a reply to Kennedy's remarks, and has also not issued any public statements about the dig.

This is not the first time that Kennedy, 73, has made a jab at Ocasio-Cortez, 35.

During another Fox News appearance earlier this year, Kennedy said that Ocasio-Cortez was 'the reason there are directions on a shampoo bottle.' He has also previously called former Vice President Kamala Harris 'AOC without the bartending experience.'

As Democrats search for a leader after facing defeat at the hands of Republicans in the 2024 election, Ocasio-Cortez is among those with an elevated stature who can help shape her party's future.

Outside of her constant social media statements and committee speeches against the Trump Administration, she has been crisscrossing the country with fellow socialist Bernie Sanders in recent months, drawing sizeable crowds.

Yet the New York City socialist darling's place on the DailyMail+ Power List of Top Democrats released last month was just 24th out of 29.

Based on exclusive polling, the Mail's Power List captures public sentiment around likeability, trustworthiness, perceived bias, and knowledge among key figures.

The top five names on the list were all celebrities.

The popularity, or lack thereof, of other longtime Democratic leaders has also been called into question in recent months.

Top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer ranked 26th out of 29 high-profile Democrats on the latest DailyMail+ Power List released last month.

Schumer's Senate colleague and Vermont Independent Bernie Sanders took the spot of the top elected official on the list at number six, with Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman coming seventh right behind Sanders.

Data analyzed by the New York Times revealed that the number of registered Democrats has declined in every state that tracks voter affiliation by party—a group that includes 30 of America's 50 states.

The remaining 20 states do not register voters by party.

This trend was consistent between swing states, red states, and blue states.

The Times noted in their analysis that explicitly, 'fewer and fewer Americans are choosing to be Democrats.'

The Times attributed Trump's sweeping 2024 victory—including wins in every swing state and the national popular vote—to this very trend.
