Police have released CCTV of the shocking moment two thugs launched a 'vicious' attack on a man at a bar that left him with a bleed on his brain.

Lulzim Sinimati, 27, and Fatos Kertolli, 36, were this week jailed for a total of 10 years after assaulting a man during a 3am brawl at Bar 42, in Peterborough, on July 20 last year.

The pair claimed they were acting in self-defence when they carried out the attack, but both were found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) and affray in December.

A jury heard the victim was rushed to hospital with a bleed on the brain and fractures to his spine and face, while a second man was also left with minor facial injuries.

At Cambridgeshire Crown Court, Kertolli was jailed for five-and-a-half years, while Sinimati, seen smirking in his police mugshot, was sentenced to four-and-a-half years.

Following the sentencing, Cambridgeshire Police released CCTV of the moment the frenzied attack was carried out.

Footage shows Sinimati, wearing a black t-shirt and jeans, with a group in the outside area of the bar before he suddenly swings for the victim who is inside.

As the pair come to blows, Sinimati shoves him further inside the bar and punches him around the face and on the back of the head while shouting at him.

Friends and bar staff attempt to hold Sinimati back but he manages to break through and lands another blow to the man's face, sending his victim crashing down the floor.

Further CCTV shows Kertolli, dressed in a white t-shirt and jeans, repeatedly kicking and stamping on the victim as he lays helplessly on the floor injured.

As well as being sentenced to a combined 10 years in prison, both men have also been handed 10-year restraining orders prohibiting them from contacting the victims.

Detective Constable Dylan Lenton, who investigated, said: 'Both men claimed they acted in self-defence, however footage showed them viciously assaulting one victim in a sustained attack.

'The injuries they caused were so severe, at one point it was thought the victim wouldn't survive. He has since made a recovery, although effects of the trauma he suffered to his brain will stay with him forever.'
