A magnitude 3.0 earthquake has been recorded in regional NSW.
The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 1km at Muswellbrook, in the Upper Hunter region, at 3.27pm on Monday.
The earthquake occurred at the shallow depth of one kilometre beneath its epicenter which created shockwaves felt by locals.
More than a dozen residents reported feeling a tremor with 22 people making a report to Geoscience Australia.
Towns including Muswellbrook, Denman and Aberdeen may have felt light rumblings.
Others further from the epicentre such as Scone, Singleton Heights, Branxton and Cessnock would have likely felt nothing.
Its exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth is still to be determined by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre in the next few hours.
