A driver was left shocked after being slugged with a massive fine while waiting for another motorist to pull out of a parking space.
The driver was slapped with the $302 parking fine at Hurstville Aquatic Centre, in Sydney's south, on June 15.
The motorist labelled Revenue NSW 'idiotic' after his attempt to appeal the fine was shot down.
A Revenue NSW spokesman said the organisation acknowledged the circumstances that led up to the fine but was still 'unable to cancel' it.
The authority argued this was because the driver had been double parked - which is an offence.
Revenue NSW is not responsible for handing out the fines, only collecting them.
'You cannot wait for another car to exit a space as parking must be immediately available,' Revenue NSW wrote to the driver in response to the appeal.
'Double parking can create blind spots for motorists and pedestrians, as well as cause other drivers to travel on the opposite side of the road.'
The driver was then told they must pay the $302 fine.

Although it is unknown how long the driver had been double parked for, they posted about the fine online - with Aussies stunned it was considered an offence.
Adding to the other motorists' shock was the fact the driver had stayed in their car the whole time.
'Contest it again. That is absolutely ridiculous,' one wrote.
'Absolutely ludicrous,' one said.
Another added: '(There is not) a single person on this planet that hasn't done exactly this on dozens of occasions'.
Georges River Council, which issued the fine, defended its decision, saying it had increased patrols at the aquatic centre because there were 'vehicles being observed parking illegally'.
'Double parking is an issue that the NSW State Government has identified as requiring a strong deterrent across the state,' a spokeswoman told Yahoo.
'[This is] due to the safety risk it creates for the community and obstruction to traffic, hence a penalty of over $300 is applied.'
Daily Mail Australia contacted Georges River Council and Revenue NSW for comment.
