You can leave your hat on… Because you’ve superglued it to your head: Video of a fancy dress outfit too far
Halloween’s a time for throwing caution to the wind and donning the most outlandish outfit you can find.
But for one Bradford man, the end of All Hallows’ Eve didn’t mean a return to normal clothes after his determination for the perfect costume left him facing a trip to hospital.
As a hilarious new video shows, Sean Murtagh, 25, had to visit A&E after he superglued a tiny top hat to his head and then couldn’t take it off.
Hats off: Sean Murtagh's Halloween outfit lasted longer than he intended, thanks to applying superglue to his hat
Mr Murtagh, a store manager for a health and beauty company, tells BBC3’s Bizarre ER he had tried to use fabric glue to fix the hat to his head but, with the top hat failing to stay in place, took the strange decision to use a far stronger adhesive.
A day after the Halloween festivities and the tiny headwear had begun to loosen from Mr Murtagh’s bonce but with at least half of it still glued firmly to his shorn hairline, Dr Shabir warned Mr Murtagh one option might be to simply cut around the hat and leave the rim in place.
‘I can’t go to work with a sequinned top hat on!’ Mr Murtagh complains, a problem he clearly didn’t consider when assembling his fancy dress outfit.

Mr Murtagh's partner Lee seems to find the fashion faux pas far funnier than his boyfriend and shows the camera crew a mobile phone picture of Mr Murtagh trying to loosen the hat by dunking his head in a washing up basin of soapy water.
Unfortunately for Mr Murtagh, Dr Shabir explains that his self-inflicted appearance is set to stay – for a couple of days at least, until regular washing can loosen the hat.
Even the doctor finds it hard to keep a straight face, smirking as he says: ‘We’ll cut off most of his hat so he won’t look that much of an idiot, but…’

The brief surgical procedure isn’t the greatest success either, with the nurse joking: ‘I don’t know which looks worse!’ after cutting off most of the tiny hat.
Thankfully for Mr Murtagh, he didn’t have to endure the pain of looking foolish for too long, as narrator Sheridan Smith explains the hat finally left his head after a 12-hour soak.
Bizarre ER is shown on BBC3 on Mondays at 22:30.
