Duke of Edinburgh relents over Queen's plans for his 90th birthday bash
The Queen has organised a service of thanksgiving for her husband’s 90th birthday – against the Duke of Edinburgh’s initial wishes.
Prince Philip had been reluctant to celebrate his milestone birthday on June 10.
But sources at Buckingham Palace confirmed Her Majesty’s aides are organising the special service for June 12 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

It will be followed by a champagne reception hosted by the Queen at Windsor Castle.
The Duke is said to have turned down the offer of a service at St Paul’s Cathedral.
The Windsor service will be attended by 800 guests and is likely to be the first official engagement for Prince William and wife Kate Middleton.
‘The family, friends and helpers from the Duke’s charities will be at the service,’ an aide said.
