Three arrested in £14m heroin hall
Three men were being held by police today after heroin with a potential street value of £14 million was seized.
Officers from the National Crime Squad swooped on three cars parked at a lay-by near Borough Green, Kent, last night.
Two men were arrested as they transferred around 70kg of heroin into the boot of a car occupied by the third man.
All three were being detained at police stations in Kent on suspicion of serious offences against the Misuse of Drugs Act.
There was no violence or resistance, and no firearms were involved. The officers were unarmed.
A spokesman for the NCS said: "We believe our operation has foiled a conspiracy to distribute heroin - a major source of street crime and misery - throughout the south-east of England."
He added: "In terms of seizures of heroin, this in one of the biggest so far this year."
