Old Bar Rugby Union Club: Toddler is crushed to death by a common piece of sporting equipment

A two-year-old boy has died after being crushed by sporting equipment at a sports club on the NSW Mid North Coast.

The toddler and his dad were at the Old Bar Rugby Union Club in Old Bar, 325km north of Sydney, at around 2pm on Sunday.

A rugby scrum machine, which is a heavily weighted piece of equipment used to practice scrummaging, fell on the child and struck him.

The father desperately tried to save his son and called out for help.

Bystanders who came to his aid helped with CPR.
