New apples, please! The snack fit for Wimbledon
Marks & Spencer will sell the bitesized 'Rockit' apples in packs of four for £1.99
Perfect for keeping up your energy levels if Andy Murray is taken to five sets – apples in a tennis tube hit the supermarket shelves this week.
Marks & Spencer will sell the bitesized 'Rockit' apples in packs of four for £1.99.
The supermarket hopes the naturally sweet red apples will become a favourite in children's lunch boxes as a healthier alternative to chocolate or crisps.
The Rockits, pictured, are just under four inches in circumference.
They were developed in New Zealand by crossbreeding three native varieties.
The launch of the mini apple coincides not just with Wimbledon but also with reports that British children are getting fat almost twice as quickly as American youngsters.
A Marks & Spencer spokesman said: 'Great things come in small bites. '
They also come in a handy tube to protect them but it fits in nicely with the Wimbledon theme.'
