Family walks fall by the wayside
It's a simple way for the generations to exercise together, talk and bond.
But the tradition of the family walk is dying out for lack of time and interest, according to a study.
Tiredness, poor motivation and too little information about where to walk were also cited as major barriers.

Instead, researchers found that walking has been overtaken by more sedentary activities.
Families claimed they would rather spend time together at meals, sit around talking or watch TV, leading to warnings over the health consequences.
Working Britons living as a family walk far less than ten years ago, the study at the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Science at Loughborough University found.
Almost half didn't have time, but 56 per cent would walk more if others could be persuaded to join them.
The study, for MBT Shoes, found that worldwide more than twothirds of people never go for a family walk.
