Two die in house fire
A man and a nine-year-old boy died and four other people were injured in a house fire today, police said.
It is believed the four who escaped the blaze shortly before 7am in Nowell Crescent, Harehills, Leeds, were a woman and three children, along with their pet Rottweiler dog.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the fire was not thought to be suspicious at this stage but inquiries by police and fire officers were ongoing.
The spokesman said the woman and three children were all taken to St James's Hospital, Leeds, but the extent of their injuries was not known at present.
He added: "Fire investigators are at the scene and it is too early to comment on the cause of the fire.
"Police are making inquiries at the scene. The fire is not believed to be suspicious at this stage but we are keeping an open mind."
