This is the moment a penguin powered across ice before the slab broke away, and separated it from its colony. 

The footage, posted in 2019 and taken from above, has resurfaced on social media.

A playful penguin scurries across the ice while the rest of its colony are on the other side, further away.

In the footage, the excited flightless bird becomes separated from the colony.

This is because before it can rejoin its friends, the ice breaks away.

The filmer of the video and others can be heard shouting 'No!' and 'He got split!' 

The penguin is left with no choice but to make a leap of faith to be reunited with the rest of the group.

Although it can swim, it slides across the ice rapidly, on its front.

Those filming express their relief saying 'He made it, he's back with his friends' when they see the penguin with its colony again.

The moment has gone viral again as the 2019 clip was today reshared by Dr Mike Galsworthy on Twitter who wrote: 'C'mon little guy, you can do it.'

Social media users have reacted with glee to the clip online.

Some have said, 'I don't understand, I thought penguins could swim'.

But others on Twitter wrote: 'I was literally saying, c'mon mate, c'moN MATE! YESSSSSSSS! Epic level quest there.'

Another person said: 'SUCCESS! I am penguin, hear me roar...'
