Apple launches widescreen iPod
Apple will launch its sixth-generation iPod tomorrow.
Industry experts say the latest version of the digital music player will have a wide screen for users to watch downloaded movies and TV shows.
It is also expected to be operated by a touch screen like the company's iPhone mobile.
The fifth-generation iPod - launched in October 2005 - plays videos but on a small screen.
The new device, which is the size of a credit card, will be unveiled in San Francisco by Steve Jobs, Apple's chief executive.
He will also announce a shakeup of the entire iPod range, according to David Bailey, an analyst with Goldman Sachs, an investment bank.
Mr Bailey said the music players - which include the Nano and the Shuffle - would be revamped to give greater functionality at existing prices.
Also in development is a miniature version of the iPhone and software allowing users to download and read books on newer iPods.
In addition, Apple is working on giving its music players a wireless Internet connection.
Latest figures show the company sold 21m iPods between October and December last year.
