Slip into something more caring
AN ONLINE service that allows people to donate to good causes rather than spending the money on presents has generated more than £100,000 for charity in its first year.

Give It, which launched in 2004, offers people a charitable alternative to unwanted presents such as novelty socks and slippers. Customers can choose from a number of ready-made gift lists for weddings, Christmas, birthdays and anniversaries.
Donations are 'wrapped up' like a gift so customers can see how their offerings will help each charity.
The wedding list has proved the most popular with couples from around the world registering with the service.
Founder Andy Hickey said: 'As a small, not-for-profit company we're really pleased with the support we've had and with the response so far, particularly from sections of the wedding industry and marrying couples and their guests.'
Charities registered with Give It include Barnardo's, Help the Aged, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Save the Children and War on Want.
